- Sexual activity with multiple partners can increase the chances of one getting BV. However, it is not a sexually transmitted disease.
- Having sex without the use of a condom.
An infected pregnant person has a high risk of complications with the pregnancy. Also, BV increases the chance of contracting sexually transmitted diseases.

- Levofloxacin
- Clindamycin
- Fluconazole
- Boric Acid
- Miconazole
- Norfloxacin
However, this is not a substitute for diagnosis by a medical doctor. It is just a compilation of drugs used in the treatment of the infection. An infected person will still need to see a medical doctor to help ascertain what kind of infection he or she has and what treatment is required.

Metronidazole is an antibiotic drug used to treat bacterial infections. It can be in the form of a tablet, capsule, cream, gel, or injection. Metronidazole can be used in the treatment of BV. It helps to get a stop to the imbalanced growth of the bacteria causing harm.

Clindamycin
Clindamycin is an antibiotic drug used to treat bacterial infections. It is usually recommended for serious cases of bacterial infections.
Side Effect
Diarrhea is the major side effect experienced in the use of this drug.
Fluconazole
Fluconazole is a drug used to treat yeast infections. It can be in the form of a tablet or a suspension. Also, Fluconazole can be injected into the body. It helps stops the reproduction of the candida fungus in the body thereby creating a balance between the bacteria and the fungi organisms in the vagina.
Side Effects
The side effects of the drug are:
- Loss of taste
- Nausea and vomiting
- Abdominal pain
- Headache
Also, It is not suitable for a patient with liver disease and adrenal gland problems.
Boric Acid (BoriCap)
It can be used in the treatment of reoccurring yeast infections. this is applied by inserting it into the vagina.
Side Effects
The side effects are:
- Redness of the vagina
- Burning sensation after use
However, It is not advisable for use by pregnant women.
Miconazole
Miconazole comes in two forms: a cream and a tablet, it is used in the treatment of yeast infection. It is an azole antifungal drug.
Norfloxacin
It is used in the treatment of bacterial infections. It belongs to the group of quinolone antibiotics.
