Babatunde Opeyemi Rahim popularly known as Lyta is a Nigerian artist and songwriter. Lyta is a native of Kwara State. He was born and bred in Ajegunle, Lagos State. He was birthed on the 4th of July, 1998. Lyta was a member of a music group at his local mosque ‘Ile Kewu”.

Career

Lyta came to the limelight in 2018 after he signed a record label with YBNL Nation. He released his breakthrough single titled “Time”, which features vocals by Olamide. In 2019, Lyta left YBNL Nation after Olamide unfollowed him on Instagram.

He declared his exit from YBNL Nation on Naijaloaded TV. He further said although he was paid between 50,000 and 80,000 for shows he never had a written contract with the label. Afterward, Olamide Stated Guardian Life, saying YBNL has a promotion calendar but unfortunately, Lyta has refused to follow it.

Subsequently, after he left YBNL, he signed with Doro Musik Gang and released a hit single “Monalisa”. Some weeks after he released “Monalisa”, Davido summoned him for an official remix which Lyta agreed with.

They both flew to Dakar for the remix and video shoot and it was of course a success. Elias light of Rolling Stone Magazine described the song as a “handsome contradiction, with fierce expressions of yearning”. The music video was directed by Director K and the collaboration with Davido on the remix gained Lyta more exposure.

In addition, Lyta released another single titled “Worry” produced by Killer Tunes. The visuals for the song were shot and directed by Simplicity Visual Studios in London. Currently, Lyta is signed under Marlian Records owned by Naira Marley. His first single under the record label is “Hold Me Down” (Omo Gidi).
